Gene Autry Memorabilia!
In 1928 he began singing on a local radio station, and three years later he had his own show and was making his first recordings. Three years after that he debuted in film in Ken Maynard's "In Old Santa Fe" and starred in a 13-part serial, "Phantom Empire" the following year, during which he went under contract with Republic. He defined the B western of the '30s and '40s. These films often grossed ten times their $50,000 production costs. From 1942-46 he was a flight officer with the Air Transport command, returning to film with Columbia and finally with his own Flying A company which, during the 1950s, produced his TV series "The Gene Autry Show", "The Adventures of Champion", and "Annie Oakley". He wrote over 200 songs. By the early 1960s he had retired from acting and owned hotels, real estates, radio stations and the California Angels professional baseball team.
